The Early Days: Getting Started

Once I made the decision to start a podcast, the next step was figuring out how to actually make it happen. Those early days were a mix of excitement and a bit of overwhelm. Where do you even start when launching a podcast from scratch?
Choosing a Niche and Format
Originally, I set out to create a gaming podcast, but as my interests evolved, so did the direction of the show. I decided on a solo format where I could dive deep into various content creation topics and share personal insights. I wanted it to feel like a casual conversation—like chatting over coffee about the highs and lows of creative work.
Overcoming Technical Hurdles
Then came the technical side—equipment, recording, editing. I started with a good USB microphone and free audio editing software. But hitting ‘record’ for the first time was nerve-wracking. I second-guessed everything—was my voice clear enough? Was I rambling? Did I even know what I was talking about? But I pushed through, learned through trial and error, and gradually improved. When going back to listen and edit the audio, it was terrible but at the time, I didn't know how to really edit audio like I do now so I went ahead and posted the podcast episode.
Evolving and Rebranding
I started podcasting in 2022 which was called "The Gaming Temple" with enthusiasm, but life threw unexpected challenges my way, leading to a temporary hiatus. During that break, I reevaluated my podcast’s direction. By summer 2024, I returned with a fresh perspective, rebranding my podcast into The Content Playbook, expanding beyond gaming to explore a wider range of content creation topics.
